MONTHLY NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2017

SOCIETY AND OTHER NEWS

Richard Chapman and I had a very busy time at the launch of Company Drinks new HQ in the old Bowls Pavilion in Barking Park on Saturday 23rd September; we displayed our photographs albums which attracted a great deal of attention and comment.

The following day Richard, Iris Jameson, Pat Davies and I attended the annual Costermongers’ Harvest Festival at Guildhall Yard in the City and attended the service in St. Mary-le-Bow Church.

On September 12th the Society marked the 100th anniversary of the death of Arthur Hume, composer and organist at St. Margaret’s Church for over 40 years, with a short ceremony at Rippleside Cemetery; our President Bill George gave an address and flowers were placed on Arthur’s grave.

Our next meeting is on Monday 6th November when Eleanor Bloom delivers an illustrated talk Bankside: an armchair walk.
