We are in the process of arranging a post- Christmas lunch at St. Margaret’s Church Centre on Tuesday 13th February at 12 noon. Main meal will be either roast beef or nut loaf. £14 per head. Booking form available on the information table. As we do not meet in January all payments must be made at the December meeting when full details will be available.
We still have 6 seats available for the coach trip to the Waddeston Manor Christmas Fair on Sunday 26th November. The event was voted best Christmas Experience 2016 by group travel organisers. Please see Richard Chapman for further details or phone 01708 867500.
Richard Chapman and I attended the annual Dagenham Pipers’ reunion at the Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club on Sunday 8th October.
On October 12th I attended the launch of Bold Magazine issue 9: History and Heritage at the Barking Boathouse. Guests included photographer David Bailey and West Ham captain Mark Noble.
Eric Feasey represented the society at the 5th birthday celebrations of the Technical Skills Academy, Barking on 18th October.
Bill George has submitted a further letter of support to the Heritage Lottery Fund on behalf of the East Street regeneration project.
Our next meeting is on Monday 4th December when Danielle Barnett delivers an illustrated talk Tis the season to be jolly. Danielle is a songwriter and lead singer with the Urban Cookie Collective and claims to have worked with Simon Cowell!
